Fed 245 Homeless Last night

Goal was to feed 200 last night--I think highest before was 180 or so--but 245 passed through the doors last night. I suppose if you build it they will come, especially on a cold, damp, and rainy night. There continued to be a nice flow in and out all night--perhaps as people left they told there buddies to check out the feast.

There was surely a truckload of items brought up to Baltimore last night: Over 8 big coolers of soda/ water/ juice boxes; gigantic table of desserts/ cotton candy; had to be over 35 casseroles incl some 8 of meatballs and sausages to go with tons of submarine rolls. Each casseroles especially the meatballs and sausage should have fed 8-10 people so those 240 ate well with food piled high. Don't believe a crumb was leftover.

They also received a bag to add fruit, sandwiches, etc while going through the buffet line. When they left each received a bag of snacks/ toiletries as well as bag of winter items: sweatshirts/ hat/ gloves/ etc. All were very grateful!!!

THANKS to all whom helped in any way. On top of the 245 served, there had to be over 50 whom came out to serve.

Who is ready for next month: January 26 ?

Keeping Christ in Christmas

Gerry, Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this. Not an easy endeavor, but well worth it. As you may know Kelly and I have been looking to get our kids involved in helping others. Last night was by far the most significant event in that cause. The homeless of Baltimore were not the ony beneficiaries of last night's event. Hopefully we all walked away a little better off for the experience. Rob

Dear Gerry,
Thanks to your dedication and hard work Christ in His poor and homeless had a glorious birthday celebration. I was very surprised at the numbers - 245 people!! We have never had anywhere near that . Maybe word got out about your spectacular feast.

Gerry -

Great job - am so happy it went so well, and that there was ample food for everyone. You are to be commended!

For the next 4th Friday, January 26th - I will make a casserole, as usual, and will also make some dessert.

Looking ahead, I will be away the entire month of February, so will be unable to do anything the 4th Friday. However, if you like, I would be happy to purchase some frozen casseroles (Stauffer's, etc.) and get them to you the end of January, and you can keep them frozen and cook them on the 4th Friday. Let me know if you want me to do so.

Again - thanks for all your hard work, and a Merry, Blessed Christmas to you and your family.

Lucille

Thanks for all the extra effort for Friday night

Cotton Candy was a big hit

Added rolls great as well--went well with the meatballs and sausages

Fruit--always a big hit

Couldnt believe coffee and hot cocoa were gone as well

Joe and Myron were great as well

Nice for me not to even worry about all that stuff.

Nice to know if extra food from any of the stadiums--that here is a great place with needs for it

Special Thanks for all the work you did to feed the homeless Friday night. I realized you were already helping with school and that alone was enough work. Great work on getting the neighbors motivated as well.
