First Loss of the season--NUMBER 10

We are team 10 and from all the James Bond villians/ Dr Evil I just named our team NUMBER 10.

Thrilling end to the game yesterday. We had our chances to tie/ push the game to OT. Tried to explain how nice they played to come back from a 21-10 deficit at the beginning of the 4th period. Don't think that happens much at this level. Not sure what happened in the 3rd--they had a faster team and played well transitioning the basketball and we couldn't keep up and get set on defense. I figured the basket at end of 3rd quarter was to come back and haunt us.

There 4th quarter line-up was bulkier and relied on defense. Seemed to me the refs missed a few calls and seemed to call a bunch of picky fouls -not sure at least our kids were used to getting whistled for some of the calls.

Unlike in some recent games where it seemed many of our shots went in--this was not the case this game. We rebounded well in the 4th and had opportunities but wasn't too be.

So, we sit at 7-1 going into the last game of the season--still not sure what they are doing for a playoff, etc. As far as I know the team which defeated us yesterday is also with 1 defeat and assuming there is another team earlier also with one defeat. Those two teams play each other next week so one will be with 2 losses.

Max and I wont be there next week and I asked Brett's father Bobby to hold the fort down.

For Your Consideration

Not on same level as Best in Show or A Mighty Wind which for sure were 5 stars. Disappointed since I was looking forward to this. Seems a lot of buzz before theatrical release but seems it came and went in a week's time or so. Appreciate the cast's work especially adding Ricky Gervais but moved slow.

I thought bigger laughs from the cut scenes on the DVD.

No TV on Monday's for Lent

As a family, we already give up meat for all Friday's of the year, so we are trying to give up TV on Mondays. Should be a struggle since it is on most of the time.

We'll see

2006 Kia Sedona LX: Check engine light problems

Wife test drove this brand new 2006 last Thursday--Feb 15 with Armen. Car had 300 miles on--I guess was question #1. Did someone purchase prior? Why so many miles? I drove a similar car from Laurel Kia day prior and it only had some 50 miles on it. Also, check engine light was on. Sales guy said due to cold/ not running/ ok believable? Next day when I came in they said it was repaired--no problem. I later on that day purchased a silver Kia Sedona LX for some $16k.

Saturday am--heading out to finalize with dealer--engine light comes on--car rumbles--takes a while to catch in gear? Dealer says no problem--quickly take it to service--while we finish with paperwork. They said all fixed.

Next day, check engine light back on????????

Bring it back on Monday. Wednesday afternoon I go to pick up car.

Thursday am--check engine back on again. Back to dealer--speak with vp of customer service and director of service. They tell me car will be fixed.

Today, I hear from cust service vp and she says needs a part no one at the moment has--wont be until Monday and after 'repaired' want to check out the car on tuesday am?

Tell them I am out of town on Weds.

2006 Kia Sedona mini van purchase

Nuts and Bolts The 2006 Kia Sedona matches the Honda Odyssey’s horsepower rating and beats its torque rating to offer the most powerful engine in the minivan class.

Believe it or not, you can break the front wheels of the 2006 Kia Sedona loose and lay a patch of rubber if you get into the throttle hard enough. That’s because the new Sedona offers the most powerful engine in the class, a new aluminum 3.8-liter V6 equipped with 24 valves and dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT). This new V6 makes 244 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 253 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm when running on premium unleaded. That’s more horsepower and torque than Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GM, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota offer in a minivan. Run the 2006 Sedona on regular unleaded, and you only lose two horsepower and 2 lb.-ft. torque.

Despite its somewhat porky 4,387 base curb weight, the 2006 Kia Sedona joined Kirstie Alley on the Jenny Craig program, shedding 400 pounds thanks to an aluminum – rather than iron – engine block, a lighter rear suspension, and other measures. Combine this weight loss with the 25-percent gain in engine power, and it’s clear that the new model is a performance champ compared to the old Sedona. Fuel economy is also improved by 13 percent, up to 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. We averaged 17.7 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving over mountainous terrain with two people on board.

Power flows to the Sedona’s front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission equipped with Kia’s Sportmatic manual shift feature, which works like most others – slide the gear selector into a special gate and then tap down for downshifts and up for upshifts. Not much use for this feature in a minivan, and we only used Sportmatic to get some engine braking on steeper grades, though it is quick to deliver downshifts if not upshifts. Kia says it has no plan to offer all-wheel-drive on the Sedona since most people who want four driven wheels combined with lots of interior space buy an SUV.

The 2006 Kia Sedona rides on an all-new, dedicated platform supported by a four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link rear design with struts. Coil springs manage body motion, and stabilizer bars help limit body roll. Kia’s suspension tuner, Gordon Dickie, aimed for a blend of the Honda Odyssey’s taut responsiveness and the Toyota Sienna’s soft cushiness, and we’d say he succeeded. Power rack-and-pinion steering guides P225/70R16 Hankook all-season tires on the Sedona LX and P235/60 Michelin all-season tires on the EX. The new Sedona also gets bigger brakes, four-wheel discs that are vented in front and equipped with ABS, EBD, and brake assist.

Jesuit Priest Cornell Bradley

Former St. Joe's priest is focus of sex allegations
The Rev. H. Cornell Bradley, who quit last year, is accused of misconduct.
By Michael Matza
Inquirer Staff Writer

Calling the allegations against a former Saint Joseph's University campus minister "deeply disturbing," university president Timothy R. Lannon alerted the campus community yesterday to an investigation of the Rev. H. Cornell Bradley, a Jesuit priest who worked at the campus for more than a decade before leaving last year.

The investigation is conducted by the Maryland Province Society of Jesus, a Jesuit governing body, which found that Bradley had engaged in "sexual misconduct with an adult male during the early 1980s" and cited four other alleged incidents involving minors and adults over three decades.

Saint Joseph's hired Bradley in 1995 and he resigned in January 2006, according to Lannon's statement to students, faculty and alumni, which appended a letter from the province stating that Bradley "verified substantial details" of one of the allegations and "said he is unable to deny" another of the incidents.

Maryland Province spokeswoman Kate Pipkin last night said Bradley continues to be a Jesuit priest but his pastoral privileges have been suspended. He lives "under supervision" in a Jesuit community on the Eastern seaboard which she declined to identify. She said he has been instructed not to speak to the media.

"He doesn't leave the premises except in the company of another Jesuit," she said.

As for how Bradley came to be hired at Saint Joseph's without its knowledge of his problem, she said, "In hindsight, they should have been informed but things were done differently back then."

Efforts to reach the university last night were not successful.

In his statement, Lannon - though stressing that Saint Joe's was unaware of any incidents during Bradley's time at the school - nonetheless asked anyone with "information about misconduct to contact the Maryland Province Victim Assistance coordinator," or, if the allegations involve criminal activity, campus and local police.

These latest revelations are part of a larger picture developed over recent years in which clergy of various denominations were found to have abused their pastoral power by engaging in sexual activity with people they counseled.

When allegations first surfaced against Bradley and were brought to the attention of the Maryland Province in 1993, the head of the organization "mandated residential psychiatric care for Father Bradley. Upon completing the treatment, and on the recommendation of the staff of his residential treatment program, Father Bradley returned to ministry in 1995."

5-0 with 21-6 win on Sunday

Subject: W 21-6 for a 5-0 record so far

4 games remaining. I asked commissioner yesterday if playoffs or not and he said he didn't know?

Next week 2p practice on Saturday at CES and game on Sunday at 3p CMS.

Pleased with play yesterday I thought an improvement over prior weeks--for sure over Saturday's practice. Hopefully we learned some things in Sunday's game to take with us next week.

Assuming full squad again next week--I thought line-up worked well as well.

See you next week
