Subject: 4th Friday

Just checking before organizing for next week if there is anything special for that night?

Any groups, cooks, etc?

I plan to have the usual 14-18 casseroles or so

Gerry - I'll get back to you next week, you might hear sooner from Francine. We are trying out a schedule of how many we typically serve on any given Friday. I think the 4th Friday, when it is not the last day of the month so that checks have already been received, we are planning on about serving 275. So if a group is planning on attending, Francine or I will find out how much they are planning to bring and then we will let you know how many casseroles to bake to make up the difference. We are asking that the "extra" casseroles be put in the freezer for future needs, like making up shortages other weeks and/or on the 3rd Friday and 5th Friday should there by one. The "extra" casseroles should be placed in the freezers at church. For the 2nd Friday we were planning on 200 and that's about what we served. Sherry Devlin brought chicken and beans for 150 so we asked the team to bake only 5 or 6 casseroles and to freeze the rest. We had the right amount of food to serve, plates were not piled too high to be wasteful and there wasn't any casseroles left over. The only problem was that some of the folks froze their casseroles at home. It makes it easier for us to have access to casseroles at church so we can adjust for short weeks.

So a long answer to your questions, but 14-18 casseroles is great - just some will be baked and some will be frozen.

Dear Gerry,

In addition to your 18 casseroles we will have 3 pans of ziti and meatballs which will be brought downtown by a CCD class.

The following will need to be brought downtown:
Your 18 casseroles.
5 or 6 pans of sliced baked ham and potatoes, already hot and ready to go.
Boxes of sandwiches made by the singles.

Cookies, crackers, water, fruit cups, etc. that will be on or near the shelf by the door.

Last week we served 198 people.

Thanks,

Ed

Gerry,

If you bring water this week, please don't pack in in ice in a cooler. While that might be nice in the warmer weather, it is too hard for us to handle the extra weight. Plus, we put the water bottles in plastic bags with other things. So, it's better if it's not wet.

Thanks much. And thanks for the incredible job that you do handling the casseroles. We really appreciate it.

Dave
