A Santa Poll

Subject: Santa poll?

Kevin caught us off guard last night when he said "Santa is the parent's" We aren't prepared for this as we thought the comfort zone was around 9 or 10.

Now we may speak with him so he doesn't blow it for Katie?

Are Ryan, Jack and Christopher believers?

Criss-b?

What is the normal age when kids' figure it out?

Brennan came home from school(GA) and told me in front of Alexis and Christopher that one of his friends told him that there really isn't a Santa Claus and parents are the ones who buy the presents for the kids. My response was that he was crazy if he thought that I'd buy him toys for Christmas. I told him the only thing I would buy him for Christmas was clothes. I also told him if he didn't believe in Santa that he wouldn't get any presents from him and expect clothes from mom and dad. I had to buy Brennan a gift that I had told him I would never buy(Madden '06) because it cost so much money. The bugger asked Santa for it. Alexis had an idea but she plays along and still believes. Christopher listened intently to the conversation with Brennan bc he still believes. Each year they get gifts from the reindeer, Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and baby Jesus. Mom and Dad give them clothes. They laugh at the name tags.

Christopher asked me if I was the tooth fairy. I still make them believe that one too. I asked them why would I give them money for losing a tooth. I told him he could go do a chore and I'd give him money.

When the kids started saying things like that. I would say are you kidding me. I don't want Santa hearing that. We all still like to believe in Santa. CrissB says she knows Santa not real but likes to act that he does (especially around little kids) her comments.

Yes, Ryan still believes as do Ava and Jackson. Ava told me the other day that she doesn’t believe in the Easter bunny and thinks that the parents’ doing but still believes in Santa J

I like Pop's theory the best:

"if the kid doesn't believe in Santa, tell him/her that he will only receive underwear"

that will turn Kevin

Unless they are fooling me or not wanting to disappoint me--I think all 3 really believe in Santa. Perhaps Max knows but I dont think so. Once in a while one will say so and so says no Santa and I counter with 'well see if Santa brings them anything.'

I'd think it not as fun to know no Santa (even hard for me to write that). Maybe makes it more magical? Yes, would be easier or maybe cheaper--dont have to buy Santa presents and parent's presents.

I dont think I'd admit there is no Santa

Now, I do like to stress that the real reason is Jesus's birthday and prefer they celebrate more that aspect than the North Pole variety--but both important.
