Friday Night Feeding

Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 11:53 PM
Subject: Friday Night Feeding

Hello everyone -

First of all thank you for making casseroles on your assigned Friday night. The guests enjoy all the food that is taken to them. The numbers are ever increasing and so your contribution really makes a difference.

A special thank you to Gerry Seidhauer and Anne Tallone, each of whom have graciously served as team leaders over the past year. Unfortunately each has had to step down from being the team leader so if you are so inclined, please let me know.

We also have lost the first week's baker due to pregnancy, but hopefully JoMary will return in a few weeks. Marie Spara is presently too busy with Jeff so keep the Spara's in your prayers.

I'll be putting a bulletin announcemnt in the next 2 weeks papers asking for more casserole volunteers. We sure could use the maximum casseroles, 28, to help feed the increasing number of guests, averaging 250 to 300 each week. Anyone interested in being a team leader?

Peace and God Bless
Susan Burns

PS Claire Larson is working on updating my Friday night list, at least for the 2nd Friday. Kindly pass my message along and let me know corrections.

Casseroles

I was there about 230 or so and saw they were sitting out.

I am not sure what Deacon Ed will do when there are competing events. It seems the other event has the say and seem to rule the roost.

Casseroles looked good and smelled very good. I am sure there was some good eating that night

Thanks

Christmas Banquet Comments

Hello Gerry:

You should be commended for all the work you are doing on this. We have tow large coolers you can use if you need them.

David

Casserole Supper: Monday

Ok--looking real good for Friday

Still need about $150

Also, drinks and desserts

Casseroles looking good--just limited on how many I can cook/ transport.

Not packing goodie bags until Thurs --maybe Friday am since I have to wait until all my orders come in--so could still use winter clothes items/ toiletries/ etc.

May need coolers for casseroles and drinks. Not sure on how many transporters/ servers I have but we have a bunch of stuff to transport. Looks like we will serve buffet style.

Thanks
Gerry

STILL NEED for Casserole Dinner

********UPDATE*******

Still need everything--not turning away anything

Looking good:
hats, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, razors, toothbrush, socks, salad course

NEEDS:
$$$: monetary donation

plastic grocery bags

Casseroles/ entree/ dinner--best if you can cook in your own kitchen and bring to church or my house by 4p on the 22nd

Desserts: Christmas cookies/ cakes/ brownies/ etc

Toiletries

Candy/ chips/ chocolate--this will be in there goodie bag

Will serve at about 5p on that Friday the 22nd

Goal is to serve 200 and have a gift bag for each filled with goodies for them to take with them.

Concentrating on quantity to be able to give each a bag filled. Haven't been pushing some of the bigger ticket items: backpack/ sweater/ sweats/ thermals. Also, thinking if you have gently worn items of the aforementioned I am sure they would be appreciated as well.

Thanks Again

Gerry

Casserole Planning

Gerry
Manyof the casseroles from this past Fri did not get baked so I put them in the freezer this morning with the others we have. There are 10 - 12 in the freezer already for next week. Francine and John Hoppa are going to bake them next Friday and the hot dog lady is being given a break. If you could still ask some one in your group to take the casseroles out of the freezer by Wednesday so they have a few days to defrost in the refrig that would be terrific. If you can't find anyone, let Francine know and she will take care of it.

Marie came to Balto last night to help serve. She is a 1st Friday casserole person but she is going to switch to the 2nd Friday to give Ann help in getting the casseroles baked.

OLF CASSEROLE

When we had our meeting, I think Ed explained that on occasion certain groups call Francine to volunteer to bring food and to serve at St. Vincent's. With the holidays coming up, a few folks have called to volunteer as follows:

Nov. 10th - that's this Friday coming up, i.e. the 2nd Friday. Barbara Urban will be bringing 10 casseroles and salad. So there is no need to push for 14 casseroles for this week. Whatever you get, we'll serve. Or if some folks want to skip this week, that would be okay too.

Nov. 17th - this is the 3rd Friday and usually we have hot dogs but a person has volunteered with 8 casseroles. Since Gerry's folks have a break their 4th Friday because of Thanksgiving Friday, he was going to have some folks make casseroles to go with the hot dogs. Assuming Gerry can recruit at least an additional 6 casseroles, the hot dog lady is being given a break. I think there are about 4 casseroles in the freezer for us. I think it is the freezer in the kitchen. Could someone from your team put these in the refrig on Tues or Wed to defrost by Friday?

Dec 1 - this is the 1st Friday. A sorority will be providing the complete dinner. We can supplement with a few casseroles - 6 would probably be sufficient.

I also have heard from a Why Catholic groupothing definite yet. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for all the help, the casseroles are greatly appreciated.

God Bless
Susan
