********UPDATE*******
Still need everything--not turning away anything
Looking good:
hats, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, razors, toothbrush, socks, salad course
NEEDS:
$$$: monetary donation
plastic grocery bags
Casseroles/ entree/ dinner--best if you can cook in your own kitchen and bring to church or my house by 4p on the 22nd
Desserts: Christmas cookies/ cakes/ brownies/ etc
Toiletries
Candy/ chips/ chocolate--this will be in there goodie bag
Will serve at about 5p on that Friday the 22nd
Goal is to serve 200 and have a gift bag for each filled with goodies for them to take with them.
Concentrating on quantity to be able to give each a bag filled. Haven't been pushing some of the bigger ticket items: backpack/ sweater/ sweats/ thermals. Also, thinking if you have gently worn items of the aforementioned I am sure they would be appreciated as well.
Thanks Again
Gerry

To not get the two mixed up--it is probably better not to leave items, especially winter items with the tree at church. Instead, I can pick up or you drop off at my house, where we will be putting the 200 bags together sometime next weekend.
On track for a successful evening feeding and gift-bagging some 200
Thanks
Dear Gerry,
Are you going to bring all this stuff downtown? If so, it will be better for you to get the stuff yourself. I pick up stuff under the warmth tree at least twice a week. Items I get there will go for Winter Relief in our parish the first week of January, for our Friday ministry in Baltimore or for Sarah's House.
Ed
I thought I was told it was OK
I know people have been leaving stuff there
My intention is to pack the bags and bring them down myself that Friday the 22nd.
I dont know about winter items--but if there is stuff you havent been asking for but you know I have please put to the side and I can pick up.
Gerry
Dear Gerry,
It IS ok. It is just that Winter Relief is a separate program for the homeless and the stuff under the tree will also go to that program.
Peace,
Ed
We will get it all figured out. Never really gave it all too much thought other than trying to do a little extra for the 4th Friday casserole drive. I had a few people tell me they'd like to help as well and it all kind of snow-balled. One of my favorite things about this drive is that I am getting a lot of support from everybody--not just Catholics. And a little more notable support from perhaps some of our lapsed Catholics--so all that got to be good for something.
Still getting money donations as well as donated items. I am expected to have enough to feed and gift-bag some 200 men that evening.
No intention of stepping on toes or whatever.
All is looking good/ very good for the 22nd. Plan on getting the kids in the neighborhood to pack the bags next week.
Gerry
Gerry - My sister collected some money where she works and purchased 4 back packs at Marshalls. I have them to take to church. They are very very nice - cost $10 each in the children's department at Marshalls. I get a gift certificate from work for $200 from Walmarts. I'll check there for similar deal on back packs.
Susan
Great
The backpacks are the big ticket item. Of the stuff I collected money and purchased I dont think any of the items cost more than $1 per item.
Someone dropped off some coffee stuff--is there a coffee machine up there?
Also, I have some 5 families interested in driving/ serving on that evening as well.
Gerry
NEEDS:
Money--purchased some 1400 items for about $1000--so for about $5 per person--we have winter hats/ gloves/ scarves/ ear muffs as well as a toothbrush/ razor also pair of underwear and socks for each homeless person next week. Still short in the fundraising.
Still need a few more casseroles/ hot entree
Still need desserts/ cakes/ cookies/ etc
Still need drinks: soda/ water/ juice
Also, like to get Candy/ gum also toiletries--travel size would be great
Can also used gently-worn backpacks/ sweats/ coats
BIG THANKS
Like to start putting bags together this weekend. Prepare and get everything organized next friday afternoon. Cook casseroles 3-4p. Serve in Baltimore starting at 5p
