Thusly have cancelled Directv. Very disappointed with the Directv in general. Was a long time customer a few years back and recd an offer to rejoin. Called last Saturday and install was to be on Tuesday. Tech came at 1:30. At 530p he said seemed to be a problem with the High Def channels and was going to come back in a little to bring a new box. During this time also a problem since number he called to activate had no previous info on what I had ordered just days before.
Tech retn about 8p with new box but still weak signal. He said old connection/ wires were giving a weak signal of an 80 thus problem with high def. He said he would return in am light around 8a to switch out old cables. At 1030a we called tech and he then said he would be over at 330p. No call back and no high def repaired. We called Directv and they said we would have it repaired by Friday. Well Friday came and gone and no calls or repairs from Directv. Thus cancelling. Very disappointed in the customer service. Spoke with a number of people and never recd assurances that they really cared or that problem would be resolved. Plus wasnt actually sure what I was going to be charged each month since recd different answer every time I spoke with someone. Initially told something like $72 per month plus 3 free movie channels for first 3 months--but that changed to only 2? Very unprofessional experience plus now a new dish on roof, 2 new holes in house, mess left from tech including old dish in neighbor's yard, and now have to switch back to cable.
Thanks for the wasted time this week
Gerry

DVDs in your Netflix Queue
001- The Wire: Season 1: Disc 1
This disc includes the following episodes: "The Target," "The Detail" and "The Buys." Extras include audio commentary, episode reviews and previews.
002- Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Reprising her Oscar-nominated role from 1998's Elizabeth, Cate Blanchett is once again at the head of the cast as the Virgin Queen (earning her another Oscar nod) in this Shekhar Kapur-directed sequel to that film. Focusing on the queen's tempestuous relationship with the adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh, the film also stars Clive Owen (as Raleigh), Geoffrey Rush (as Sir Francis Walsingham) and Samantha Morton (as Mary, Queen of Scots).
003- 2 Days in Paris
Returning from a disastrous "romantic" trip to Venice, Marion (Julie Delpy) and Jack (Adam Goldberg) stop in Paris for two days to visit Marion's parents. But Marion's Parisian ex-lovers, her overbearing parents and culture shock all conspire to make American-born Jack feel even more estranged from Marion in this quirky comedy. Delpy, who also directed, received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Feature.
004- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Returning for his fifth year of study at the venerable Hogwarts, youthful wizard Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is stunned to find that that his warnings about the return of the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) have been ignored. Left with no choice, Harry takes matters into his own hands, training a small group of students -- dubbed "Dumbledore's Army" (after the school's headmaster) -- to defend themselves against the dark arts.
005- Office Space
In a film that takes plenty of jabs at the nihilism of corporate life, Ron Livingston plays office drone Peter Gibbons, who conspires with his cubicle cohorts to embezzle money from their soulless employers. With help and hindrance from those around him -- including the eminently quotable workplace nerd Milton Waddams (Stephen Root) -- and the affection of waitress Joanna (Jennifer Aniston), Gibbons may just find his sanity … and his revenge.
006- Andre Rieu: The Homecoming
Dutch violinist and band leader Andre Rieu performs live in his Netherlands hometown of Maastricht in this outdoor midsummer concert filmed in the breathtaking Vrijthof Square. Featuring lively guest singers the Platinum Tenors, this special concert glows with an extraordinary light show as Rieu treats his appreciative audience to some of his most beloved works, including "Toselli Serenade," "Ode to Maastricht" and "Aviator's March."
007- Saint Ralph
Ralph (Adam Butcher) is a typical teenager with atypical questions, the largest of which concerns his mother. She's fallen into a coma, and the 14-year-old has set his sights on winning the 1954 Boston Marathon in a makeshift barter with God to make his mother well. His teacher, Father Hibbert (Campbell Scott), wants to encourage his dream, but in doing so, he goes up against the reserved, ever-realistic Father Fitzpatrick (Gordon Pinsent).
008- Michael Flatley: Gold
Combining dynamic footage from "Lord of the Dance" and "Feet of Flames" performances, this production also includes five new dances and fresh versions of the classics filmed in Budapest, Hungary, where Michael Flatley thrilled an audience of more than 100,000 people. During an intimate interview, the magnetic Flatley discusses his phenomenal career and shares his personal photo album and rare video of his old and new dances.
009- The Heartbreak Kid
The Farrelly brothers loosely adapt the 1972 hit of the same name into this romantic comedy starring Ben Stiller as Eddie Cantrow, a newlywed who marries a dreamy woman (Malin Akerman) only to learn at the honeymoon that she's a total nightmare. As this discovery sets in, Eddie meets the real girl of his dreams (Michelle Monaghan). The charmer also stars funnymen Jerry Stiller, Carlos Mencia and Rob Corddry.
010- The Kingdom
When a deadly bombing attack targets Americans in the Middle East, a counterterrorism squad is dispatched to find the culprits. Once they arrive in the desert, the U.S. agents (an ensemble that includes Jamie Foxx as the group's leader) learn that in these parts, they are the true enemy. With their investigation hampered by local bureaucracy, the team realizes they may be the terrorists' next target. Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman also star.

Bill Maher
I generally watch his show on HBO on Friday nights but wonder why he spews so much against God/ religions/ especially Catholicism, etc. He seems boastful of this fact that those of us whom believes are the cuckoos. At least with the 'Gospel of Oprah' you have some tinge of spirituality/ perhap some Christian message but he preaches an anti-gospel. Now, I am also sure he only gets a fraction of the audience Oprahs gets so I guess this is good.
http://www.foxnews.com.pssht.com/bill_maher_anti-religion.html
Losing his religion
Maher, 48, grew up Roman Catholic, attending weekend catechism classes, and weekly Sunday mass with his father and sister. His father was Catholic, his mother Jewish.
When he was 13, his father pulled everybody out of church.
"It was like V-J Day in my room," Maher says, laughing. "I couldn't have been more thrilled.
"My father, God bless him, became very disillusioned with the pope at the time, which was Pope Paul [VI]. He loved Pope John [XXIII]. He was the liberal pope, 1958 to 1963. So my father, as an Irish-Catholic American, was in his glory in the early 1960s. He had an Irish president. He had a liberal pope, whom he loved. But Pope Paul obviously rubbed him the wrong way."
This explains, at least in part, why today Maher has no religion. And no middle name.
When his family left the Catholic Church, he was preparing for the sacrament of confirmation.
"I was dreading it because that's where you get your middle name, and mine would have been Aloysius," he says. "It's actually a very common, Irish, Catholic, horrible name. So that's why to this day I don't have a middle name. I got off the hook right at that moment."
Aloysius is the patron saint of teens.
On last weeks show he couldnt stop slombering over the author Christopher Hitchens and his recent book titled: God is not Great:
http://www.amazon.com/God-Not-Great-Religion-Everything/dp/0446579807
From Publishers Weekly
Hitchens, one of our great political pugilists, delivers the best of the recent rash of atheist manifestos. The same contrarian spirit that makes him delightful reading as a political commentator, even (or especially) when he's completely wrong, makes him an entertaining huckster prosecutor once he has God placed in the dock. And can he turn a phrase!: "monotheistic religion is a plagiarism of a plagiarism of a hearsay of a hearsay, of an illusion of an illusion, extending all the way back to a fabrication of a few nonevents." Hitchens's one-liners bear the marks of considerable sparring practice with believers. Yet few believers will recognize themselves as Hitchens associates all of them for all time with the worst of history's theocratic and inquisitional moments. All the same, this is salutary reading as a means of culling believers' weaker arguments: that faith offers comfort (false comfort is none at all), or has provided a historical hedge against fascism (it mostly hasn't), or that "Eastern" religions are better (nope). The book's real strength is Hitchens's on-the-ground glimpses of religion's worst face in various war zones and isolated despotic regimes. But its weakness is its almost fanatical insistence that religion poisons "everything," which tips over into barely disguised misanthropy. (May 30)

Soprano MobSpeak
MOBSPEAK
file: a b c d e f g h i j l m o p r s t u v w
A friend of ours: mob shorthand for introducing one made guy to another made guy. "A friend of mine" is just another jamook on the street.
A trippa di zianata: "your aunt's tripe."
Action: a bet that a bookie "writes" and for which you pay him his "vig."
Administration: the top-level "management" of an organized crime Family—the boss, underboss, and consigliere.
Agita: anxiety, edginess, an upset stomach.
Anti-Trust Violations: what authorities call the mob practice of carving out exclusive territories. Wiseguys call them "mine."
Associate: one who works with mobsters, but hasn't been asked to take the vow of Omertá; an almost confirmed, or made guy.
The Books: a phrase indicating membership in the Family. If there is a possibility for promotion, then the books are open. If not, the books are closed.
Borgata: an organized crime Family.
Boss: the head of the Family who runs the show. He decides who gets made and who gets whacked. The boss also gets points from all Family business; also see don, chairman.
Buon' anima: salutation meaning rest his soul.
Buttlegging: bootlegging untaxed cigarettes.
Cafone: a peasant or lower-class.
Capo: the Family member who leads a crew; short for capodecina.
Cazzis: see Stugots.
Che bruta: How ugly you are.
Che peccato: what a pity, what a shame.
Chiacchierone: chatterbox.
Clip: to murder; also whack, hit, pop, burn, put a contract out.
Code of silence: not ratting on your colleagues once you've been pinched—no longer a strong virtue in organized crime families. Also see Omertá.
Col tempo la foglia di gelso diventa seta: old Italian saying meaning, "Time and patience change the mulberry leaf to satin."
Comare (also goomah, goomar, or gomatta): slang for girlfriend or mistress. No self-respecting wiseguy is without one.
Come heavy: to walk in carrying a loaded gun. You shouldn't have lunch with a Russian drug dealer unless you "come heavy."
Confirm: to be made; see made guy.
Consigliere: a trusted Family advisor, who is always consulted before decisions are made. See Tom Hagen in The Godfather.
Crank: speed; in particular, crystal meth.
Crew: the group of soldiers under the capo's command.
Cugine: a young soldier striving to be made.
CW: FBI shorthand for Co-operating Witness.
Don: the head of the Family; see boss.
Eat alone: to keep for one's self; to be greedy.
Executive Game: a special-event card game for celebrities and other high-rollers.

Ernst Stavro Blofeld is a fictional character from the James Bond universe. He is the archenemy of the British Secret Service agent James Bond and head of the evil terrorist organization SPECTRE.
Blofeld usually appears accompanied by a white Persian cat in the films (but not in the novels). It was also briefly a trademark of the Bond films not to show Blofeld's face, only a closeup of Blofeld stroking his cat. This "trademark" was later broken in the film You Only Live Twice and subsequent films. It was also mimicked in the animated series Inspector Gadget, and spoofed in Austin Powers.
Blofeld appears in six official James Bond movies as well as Never Say Never Again, the 1983 remake of Thunderball, which makes him the most persistent and arguably greatest of James Bond's enemies.
