First of all I was so moved and full of anticipation about The Pope coming to pray at Ground Zero that I wasn't paying very close attention to Raymond and Peggy, so I missed that all together. Maybe he didn't want to highlight it by questioning what she said and her meaning. Perhaps he hoped that people like me were watching and weren't really listening to them too closely. Although she did say something that got my attention.
She said that she felt that there was too much security and I believe she used the word "muscle" around the Pope and that it wasn't necessary. That I found quite disturbing. Too much? Yeah, too much until God forbid some harm came to him on our soil and then they are saying that it's not enough muscle and we were lax. I did breathe a sigh of relief as he left and checked to be sure that nothing happened while he was flying home, too. Please, Gracious God, I just didn't want anything to happen to him while he was on our clock! Yet, she's concerned that we look like a police state. Give me a break. I am not that familiar with her work but am with her name. Maybe she likes to be controversial. So many journalists do.
I hope you are well, God Bless, Jane Go to Top of Page

When he walked among the people he seemed the two guys were always at his side. The one guy seemed a little more adamant about keeping the people away. But, I figured they knew more than I/ we do. If the Holy Father wanted to meet/ greet someone he just stopped and went over. We have watched all the crazy Hollywood movies and see the far fletched plans hatched. Yes, so glad all went smoothly while he was here.
