Subject: Fifteen Promises
Msgr Parry
I figure someone is calulating what good I do. What graces I will receive or partial ones even. Was i in a state of grace when I did this or that? Did I confess my sins perfectly?
I always liked the idea here about signal graces.
I think if more people knew about the 15 promises we would be living in a totally different world.
I loved hearing about the indulgences today.
Thanks
Gerry

KofC Meeting
Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 10:39 AM
Subject: KofC Catholic Round Table
Thanks for calling the meeting the other night.
Looks like we got a little more clarification on our mission. I've been unsure other than times when asked to speak with Fr Gene about something the Knights may be able to offer.
And little harder up here (Crofton/ AA Co./ Baltimore Diocese) since there is another KofC active in this parish, but like myself there are many former Sacred Heart council/ Bowie-ites living in this area now. I actually attend OLF for daily Mass and Sunday's over at Sacred Heart since I know Msgr Parry keeps his Masses according to the traditions of the Church (I also make it a point to attend a 12:10 Mass each week down at the Shrine). But, I continue to teach CCD as well as run the feed the homeless in Baltimore on the 4th Friday of each month out of OLF. I am also called on when an Adoration Guardian is needed during the 24 hours each week dedication to Eucharistic Adoration. Maybe we can establish an email list when we update brother Knights of what is going on or is needed in the community.
It seems with the round table we should be able to at least use it as a great data base of information of what is going on within the Kof C council area. When are Masses, Confessions, Adoration, any special devotions, pilgrimages, etc. As well as any special projects as talks/ sermons/ etc. I make it a point to read the Catholic Standard from each Archdiocese each week--tons of great info, but if I just attended OLF--I wouldn't know what was going on with the DC diocese. I think this info would be very welcomed.
Thanks
Gerry

Mother Teresa

Subject: Mother Teresa
I saw these stories as well last week or so and just typical of the secular media to run with such stories. Most readers, especially Christian readers will understand and take it worth a grain of salt--but these non-believers/ atheists love these stories. One of the main propagandist is HBO's Bill Maher who continues on each episode to push his anti-God agenda. He added on this issue that Mother Teresa is one of them--it is kind of comical other than the numbers of whom actual watch and listen to what this guy as well as others like him are spreading.
I also think if by speaking about this nonsense are we giving them credence to there thought process? I would wager that most Catholics never heard this story nor knew of a book but only caught on when it was mentioned that she might be an atheist. This story probably broke on a slow news day plus close to her anniversary of her death and got some play with the media. As far as I see it came and left relatively quickly.
My second thought on Mother Teresa is that I am very reluctant to address this issue because I have taken notice of a very very few whom I would note as saints on earth in recent times. The Gates of Heaven are a very narrow set of doors and few are chosen to walk through them--But I would have to think that Mother Teresa is at least one of them. Everything I have heard or read about her has Saint written all over her. She didn't chose just to work with the poor but the poorest of the poor--I am sure it is poverty we know nothing about here in the US.
I have no worries about our soon to be Saint Mother Teresa but more so our 'radical secular' society and the growth and spread of atheistic viewpoints.
